What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
It’s over. We left it all on the field. That’s all you can say about it. If you’re an athlete, all you ever want to do is leave it all out on the field. This series didn’t turn out like we would have liked it to. That’s a good team over there. The Red Sox have a lot of classy players. They just beat us on the field. I give them a lot of credit.
We’ve got to hold our heads up high. We have a lot to be proud of. Obviously, right now, it hurts. But we tried our hardest. If you look yourself in the mirror and say you tried your hardest, there’s nothing else you can do. This is baseball. It comes after your family’s health and well-being. There are more important things in life. Hopefully, this will motivate us to work harder in the offseason and come back next year.
It was a hard night. So many weird things happened. Manny’s ball took a crazy hop in the first inning. I remember that play, because you kind of roll your eyes and go, “Here we go again.”
We just needed one more win. We came close, but that’s a good team. That’s all you’ve got to come back to. They beat us. For all of us young guys, we got a taste of what the postseason was like. Hopefully, we can learn from it. You have to.
I’m going to take three or four days off, then get back to the weight room and start getting ready for next year. I’m excited about having a whole offseason where I won’t have to go to the Arizona Fall League or play winter ball or anything. This will motivate me, and it should motivate all of us.

As a Red Sox fan, let me say this. Give yourselves credit. You played well. You made our team run for their money and you put up a heck of a tough fight on this series. As a spectator, I appreciate that. Thank you for that and for giving use good baseball.
Hopefully, we'll see you guys back in fine form next year.

Ryan,
Thank you so much for the incredible season. I have had so much joy watching you and the rest of the guys play. To look at the setbacks this team has overcome this season- the snowed out home opener, etc. and how far you've come is amazing. You are one of the 4 best teams in all of baseball- you played in the ALCS and you took it all the way to Game 7. That is nothing to hang your head about at all. There are a lot of cities and a lot of players who might never be able to say the same thing. I am so proud of everything you accomplished, and of the way you worked together as a team. This was the post season for most of the team. I think we were kind of nervous and didn't always know how to react or what to expect. But now that we've had that experience, we can learn from it and grow, and be an even better team next year. I am so excited for the '08 Season already, and I will see you in Spring Training- I can't wait! :) GO TRIBE! Enjoy your off season.

Hi,
I just wanted some way to say to you (and please pass this on to the rest of the team): Thank you. You and the guys gave me and my friends one of the most thrilling, most exciting, best summers of my life. Yes, this was heartbreaking, but I'll still be there in '08 to cheer you guys on. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Go Tribe.

Garko you guys made Cleveland proud. I can't remember having this much fun watching the Indians ever. It does hurt but there was nothing that could've been done. You made it to game 7 of the ALCS. Thats a **** good year in my book. You guys never gave up and you had your chances. You guys didn't make any excuses, you guys went out there and played the game the way it was supposed to be played. Can't wit to see you next year. I'm counting it down. Go tribe! Cleveland rocks!!! Keep your heads up.

You guys played an amazing series. The games you did take from the Red Sox proved that you guys were more than underdogs, you were all definitely a force to be reckoned with.
Look at the series against the Yankees. You all can go into next season saying you completely shut down the Yankees, and for a time, the Red Sox. An impressive feat regardless.
Like I said before the game, in your last post, even though you lost tonight, I'll be back next Spring to watch you guys all over again and root for you. Now that you all have post-season experience under your belts you'll know what to do when you get there again. :)

Hi Ryan,
Thank you and the entire team for giving us an amazing season. I hope you continue to write a blog during the off-season or at least during Spring Training. I know a lot of your fans would enjoy reading your thoughts as you prepare for a new season of baseball in 2008. Enjoy family and friends during the off-season and know that your fans will be ready to cheer the team to victory in the new season. You guys are still the best.

Hey Ryan,
When Pedroia hit that 2 run homer, I cried. When Skinner stopped Lofton at 3rd base, I was so mad at him. It was so close to be a 3 run homer you hit at the top of 8th inning. I don't blame to Betancourt, because he was so tired today. Thank you for bringing us so many great games all year long, Go Tribe, see you on 2008.

Ryan and all Indians players, thank you for a super season. We were there from Spring Training in FL to post season in the Terrace Club watching the growth, development and excitement of our team.
You accomplished a lot this season and this experience will be totally valuable next year. Hope everyone has a safe and healthy off season.
It would be great if Colorado takes the series!!! They were very exciting to watch down the stretch.

Hey, Flintstone!
I personally look forward to seeing you in an Indians uni for a long, long time. All the "experts" were doggin' your fielding before the season started & you just kept getting better & better. Nice job! Keep it up & you'll be an all-star caliber player before long. Have a good offseason!

What would you know about classy Garko. Your comments pissed off the red sox and you lost because of it.
It should also be noted that it was the CLEVELAND media that brought up your quote about champagne tasting as good on the road NOT Boston. It was YOUR media so you owe the entire set of media in Boston a big fat I WAS WRONG.
You wouldn't know class if at all if it bit you in the butt. Everyone else on your team but Lofton deserve a great big great job. You however are an idiot.

Hey Ryan, as hard as it was watching the last part of the game, I stuck with it and saw a lot of good things. The team still had its heads high...manager eric wedge not once put his head down in shame. nobody expected such a young team to win the al central, cruise by the yankees, and come within 1 game of reaching the world series over a world class team like the sox. i'm glad to see the indians back in form and look forward to following you all next season. keep up the hard work!

As a Indian's fan out here in the northwest I'd like to say you guys made me proud to show my Cleveland pride! I know that you guys are obviously disappointed but a team could do a whole lot worse than third best team in MLB. If your team can stay intact (looking at you Shapiro) and continue to improve you will be back here contending once again. Thanks for the great effort and season, see you NEXT OCTOBER!

Gark,
I witnessed so many of the Tribe's games this season, including the home series where we were swept by the Yanks. I was there when we beat the Yanks, both at the Jake and in NY. I only wish I had bused over to Boston to be with you all. It hurts so much right now, especially knowing this team really was better than the Sox. We just couldn't finish it when our backs were to the wall.
You are right though, it was a wonderful season and quite unexpected to make it this far and to get this close. The thought of being able to win a Title after so long I'm sure loomed large in everyone's mind, but here's to next year. Now we must resign CC and maybe pick up a clutch bat off the free agent market.
I've met many of you, but never had the pleasure to actually meet you Gark. Maybe I will next year in Texas when you visit my home state, or when I'm outside the player's parking lot after so many of your home games. It can't be said enough, Thank you and all the Tribe for a wonderful season of great plays, close games and huge wins. Now I'll mourn with you all in spirit and praise the Tribe to the baseball world.
I wish I could have only been there to say-keep positive and just play to win one game. We had this series won, in every shape and form, but hat's off to only a veteran Boston team, NOT A BETTER BOSTON TEAM. They deserve it too, I guess.
GO TRIBE, always and forever...

hey Gark,
There's nothing better than hating the stinkin' SOX (red expecially) & Yankees with all the corny primadonnas on both teams...but hopefully every single Tribe player will be back next year to show everyone once again how to play like a TEAM instead the other PRIMADONNAS in the league. That's why I've been & will always be Cleveland Fan. Thanx for the great season, even better than '95 or '97!

What's the difference between the Yankees and the Red Sox?
It's easier to hate the Red Sox. They succeed in buying championships.
Cut their payroll down to yours, and you guys would've won. Good luck next year, Gark.

Hello Ryan G and Cleveland--what a game..and series. here is my posting from after game 6 -- "I just got home from Fenway.. come on Cleveland.. pick yourselves up... dust off the last two games..and let's see a humdinger for the last game--for the first time in the series, you guys look flat... making errors... no clutch hits.. you have got a heroic test tomrrow.. Westbrook in Fenway is a scary thought..look at CC and Fausto against Boston... here's hoping it is a great game..of course, i want my red sox to win!!!"
well it was a humdinger..and Garko, that was an amazing at-bat when you got the double off DiceK.. often, what gets overlooked is the tough at-bats that work a pitcher, something we do pretty well in Boston.. you showed me a TON in that at-bat..and although the score was 11-2, i will remember just how close it was.. just like our heartbreaking loss in game 2 13-6-- you guys are an amazing group--and I wish you a great off-season.. Hold your heads up high.. Well done...

It was a season that beat all expectations! My 8 year old sons introduction to Indians baseball this past year, has created memories that will last a lifetime. Playing catch out front(making Grady dives) and listening on the radio all summer long.Going to 8 games and getting Kenny's, Trot and J Mike autographs. Running the bases on Kids's Fun Day's. WOW! How cool is that to have shared such a wonderful year with my son? My only regret is that my son and I didn't get a chance to say "EA Sports, It's in the Game!" outside of Jacob's Field With our painted faces and Tribe sign during the World Series for MLB 08. The y definitely would of picked us because they know true Tribe fans when they see them. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING! :)

Ryan -
You know what, man? You guys went above and beyond what I think any Indians hopeful would have expected this year. You may have fallen just a little short in the end, but when you look back on it, does it really matter all that much? To have just gotten to the post season, when there were so many people that doubted Cleveland could do even that much, speaks for itself. It was twenty-one days more of baseball than we'd get in a normal season, and for that, we're all thankful - or at least I am.
I can't wait for next year. As soon as that schedule comes out, I'll be putting up the countdown on every calender I can find. It's gotta be our year one of these upcoming seasons; let's hope it's this one.
Thanks for the awesome season, Garko. Can't wait for the next.

Ryan - First thank you for this Blog and the people assisting you with this. It has been fun. And equally, thank you and the Tribe for a Great Season !!! Not many people including myself thought you guys would go this far. I guess there is a lot that goes on day in and day out that the fan does not see that keeps a team believing and working hard. Unfortunately, my only excuse is not baserunning, bad hitting, aces not winning etc but the inbalance of teams in major media markets like Boston and NY outspending their mistakes. This by far is the biggest 'steroid' issue in baseball. For teams in the AL, it is a gauntlet to go thru NY and Boston every year. Though the ratings are great for TV, it is why people hate these teams. Tell your teammates, thank you for an enjoyable season. And tell Paul Byrd he is a classy guy for speaking up and being honest. More people should be like him - why that story had to come out yesterday is beyond me but who knows why. Maybe dirty games.

Garko!! Thanks for a great season. It was exciting to watch you guys this season. You looked great. This year you guys played hard and never gave up. Even being down in early innings, with this team you were expecting a come back! You knew that this group of guys could pull of multiple runs in late innings! So thanks for a good season and I can't wait to see what 2008 brings!!!! Enjoy the offseason!!

I'm sitting in my living room in Buffalo last night, watching Boston run up the score, and I can't help but remember four straight Super Bowl losses, a Brett Hull goal that wasn't in the Stanley Cup Finals, and all the suffering sports fans along the shores of Lake Erie who can't catch a break because their teams play in small markets.
I also thought of how much money MLB and Fox Sports would would lose with a Cleveland/Colorado World Series. I got the sick feeling that the only way the Indians will ever make it to the Series is if the opponent is either the New York Mets, L.A. Dodgers, or Chicago Cubs. Small markets just don't pay. I'm not saying any of this is fact...just random thoughts. I wouldn't dream of questioning the ethics of MLB or other pro leagues.
Great season guys! Still love the Indians.

What do you have to be proud of? Mostly everyones poor performance in this series? From CC's and Fausto's dismal outings,to the lack of hitting by too many players, to the breakdown of relief pitching and the mental defensive errors. This was not a quality series by any means. As Blake said, "guys didn't play as well as we could have" Well, why not? I thought that is why you guys get paid as well as you do. As I said previously, the all too familiar,"wait 'til next year" is sounding again.

It was a great season, but I can't say that the tribe deserved to win. I have been a fan forever, but the Tribe really did not deserve the win at all.
CC and Fausto were absolutely embarrassing, there is no way either is winning the Cy Young award now. It was pitiful.
And the errors last night. Again, pitiful. I was embarrassed for Blake and Peralta. That was just stupid.
Yeah, the calls were not always on the Indians side, but that didn't matter because when it came down to, these last games, the Indians were not playing like a playoff team should.
Thanks for proving everyone right about the young and inexperienced team guys.
There is always next year, hopefully everyone learned a lot from the second half of this series and will be ready for next year...maybe next year we can win that one more game so we get home field advantage.

Gark, I was reading through the comments and came across the one written by ShannonMillerfan, and I hope you don't take anything she/he wrote to heart. Has to be a Boston fan, who else would go to the other teams blog and spew a bunch of BS? As far as the series goes, sure, we're all disappointed as fans but I'm sure it doesn't come close to what you guys are feeling. No one player wins it for a team and no one player loses it for a team. I, as a life long Indian fan, wanted to let you all know that this group of guys is by far the gutsiest and classiest group I have ever seen in a Cleveland uniform. Despite the disappointing outcome, this team has earned the respect of the baseball faithful and will be back for years to come.

Gark,
Thanks for a hard-fought regular season, and exceeding my expectations. However, exiting the post season as the team did, left a bad taste in my mouth. Getting outscored 30-5 in the last three games was a joke. Sadly, I have been a Tribe fan since the mid 1960's, so until the team finally(maybe) wins "The Big One"..the decades of misery will overshadow the short span of success. I am more disappointed with management not making the moves to put the ball club over the top. Shapiro's battle cry is always " we won't mortage the future." Well, the future is NOW--the team has a solid core, but could have used another playoff experienced bat and arm, to get to the World Series. And speak of experience, you can argue the importance of the 38 regular season wins chalked up by Sabathia and Carmona, but these guys didn't turn out to be the "money pitchers" you need to succeed in the post season. Give Fausto a flyer because of his youth, but CC has been to the playoffs before. His postseason starts were abysmal. I hope the club's brain trust does more to bolster the Indians chances in ' 08. Have a great off-season !

Great season. The Indians have nothing to be ashamed of. You ended up 2nd in the better of the 2 leagues. That's outstanding. Boston's a heck of a team. They stepped up when it mattered and showed that they are worth their $260 million payroll. Anyone who is down on this team doesn't understand baseball. Am I disappointed? Of course, but only 1 team in the whole American League can say they are better than the Indians. This team made the playoffs for the first time in 6 years and missed out on the World Series by 1 game. That's something to be proud of.
Congratulations! Can't wait until March!

Show me a good loser and Ill show you a loser. I am a huge Tribe fan, but have a knack for being too honest. You guys played scared your last 3 games. Didnt even look like the same team. I kept hoping you would get angry, I think Kenny tried to get a fire lit with Beckett but you stayed lame. C.C. Sabathia, Travis Hafner...you let us down. I love you guys, but you choked. Travis, do us a favor. Figure out what changed between the end of last year and the beginning of this year and change it back. How can a young player change so much in a couple months. Have a good winter guys. Maybe one of these days a Cleveland team will come through for this city. I wont hold my breath.

First off -great season guys. Garko, you have really impressed me this season, I really enjoyed your playoff blogs. I have a new favorite player to root for next season :)
This stings. I don't think it's fair to single out any one player, but it's fair to say Carmona and Sabathia didn't perform the way a 1-2 pitcher-cy young candidates at that-should have. It's very difficult to win under those conditions.
And to the Red Sox fan who bashed Ryan for his champagne comment-he said it after they beat the Yankees. Do a little research next time before you go all out trashing someone. If you are a red sox fan why aren't you celebrating your amazing come from behind series victory? There's so much to be positive about as a Sox fan yet you chose to come here and bash Garko? Who's the one with no class?

Furioff, you are a *****. Your fragile mind is easy manipulated by the media. Just because they tell you "champagne tastes just as good on the road" is an arrogant quote, you believe it. All the quote meant was "Hey, it would of been great to win here at home, but we are excited to go out and try and get the win in Boston, also. A win is a win, regardless of where it comes".
You are such a *****. Don't blame the media, blame yourself for eating whatever the media feeds you and not building your own opinion from it.

hold ur heads up high and be proud of all that you've accomplished this year. everyone in boston thought this was going to be an easy series, but you guys proved them wrong by forcing a game 7. you held them close for most of the game too. yes this loss hurts, i'm dissapointed and i cried alot last night but i am still so so so proud of all you guys. i've never felt this way about a cleveland team before. you've accomplished so much and have been through so much and your right, what doesnt kill you makes you stronger. you guys are more like a family than a team and i get all tearyeyed when i hear that. i love you guys and i want to thank you again for doing this blog, it makes me feel like i know you guys personally a little more. enjoy the off season and i'm already counting down till march!! and if you get a minute of free time, if you could send me a little email, i'd appreciate it. please tell grady, asdrubal and the rest of the team great job and i am so proud of all of them too. thanks so much for a wonderful season/october and i cant wait to see you guys next year!! i love all of you so much

I should have just listened to my mom on Saturday night when she said "I'm not watching the game. I've watched the Indians for 45 and I know what's going to happen."
I've watched you guys play all season, and I know that you are a much better team than the one that showed up in your uniforms in games 5-7. I'm angry that you waited until you had a World Series berth on the line to start playing like little girls.

Hey Ryan, thanks for listening to all of us--obviously you get it--you understand the fan perspective and that's why you care enough to have this forum for us to express how we feel. Thanks you to the Indians team for giving all of us the most exciting baseball summer--to watch you guys play for over 6 months this year--to see each of you at bat literally hundreds of times this season--it is only natural to fall in love with the team and the way you play. I cried last night but it was tears of disappointment mixed with pride for all of you classy, professional, hard-playing guys. Of course, I didn't start crying until I saw Victor in the dug-out at the end of the game--I wanted to hug him--he is the true MVP of the team this year. Take care of him! Hold your heads up and I'll see you in Florida for spring training!

You must know that no matter what anyone writes about this series or how it's spun, you guys had a great season. My friend Mango and I have followed you guys from the Snowpening Day craziness up until now. We wouldn't have it any other way. Many road trips from Columbus to Cleveland were made to support you guys this season. GO TRIBE!! Thanks so much for the thrill of following you into the postseason. By the way, Mango has a crush on you, and I have a crush on Grady. Perhaps we can meet and have some beer sometime? Mango and I can talk baseball until the cows come home.

Ryan,
I just wanted to tell you and the entire Indians team how much you mean to me. I come from an Indians-loving family, so when I was little we would always watch the games together. As I got older I guess I kinda got away from watching baseball games - but this year my mom told me how great a team you were and what great chemistry you had. I started watching again, and watched you all down the stretch and was so excited when you guys made the playoffs. In the past few weeks, my boyfriend and I have been hurrying home from college every night so that we don't miss the games. It's been quite a ride, and thanks to all of you for igniting my interest in the Indians again. You guys came a long way this season and were incredible....don't let yourselves get too upset by a few losses! Every single person on your team is truly a class act. Tell the whole team congrats on a great season for me :) I'm proudly wearing my Indians sweatshirt today for you guys! I can't wait for the season to begin again :)

Ryan & the team
Thank you all so much for an amazing ride this season. You all brought the pure love of baseball back to northeast Ohio, and you made the game fun once again. To watch you guys play week after week was a joy, because we knew we were watching a team full of guys who just loved the game and wanted nothing more than to get out there and play ball. Watching guys who truly love the game, and not just their paychecks, is worth more than any championship title.
This team brought heart back to the game and even back to Cleveland, and though we're all a little sad today, we have a season full of great memories to look back on and another exciting season to look forward to. Even my often cynical, ex-umpire grandfather, who has been so jaded by all the egos out there in the majors, fell head over heels for this team once again. Watching him watch the games, I could see all the memories of his days as a ballplayer come rushing back. Those are the kind of moments that make this game so amazing. Thank you for being the kind of team that can create such moments.
We're all so proud of you guys, and you truly made Cleveland a force to be reckoned with. You should all be very proud of what you accomplished this season, especially for taking down the Yankees. In my family, beating the Yankees tops any championship title, so thanks for the personal vindication, it was a long time coming. Thank you guys for such a great season and I can't wait until April. See you all in Winterhaven!

Ryan,
First off, I'd just like to start by thanking you and the rest of the team for the incredible season you gave us fans and the City of Cleveland. There was never a dull moment and I really appreciate every second of it. I first started watching the Tribe in '95 as a young kid of only 8 years old and have watched ever since. This season had the same feeling that it did during the mid-90's...magical. Also, thanks for the season you had personally. You were one of the guys who continued to do your part day in and day out and it really helped the wins come in bulk. I'm proud to call myself an Indians fan. Have a great offseason and see you in spring.

To the Tribe, Thanks for a great year! Though I live in NJ, I don't like the Yankees, mainly b/c of their boss. His low-rent treatment of Joe Torre was just one more nail in his coffin with me. Anyway, I love the Indians and was so sad to have lost to the Bosox after being up 3-1. So many chances missed or blown; it was painful. Though the blame can be spread around, I must say that the absolute disappearance of Gronk cost the team in many ways, more than just his quiet bat. I love that big teddy bear but what happened? He became such a non-factor that the various commentators hardly said much about him or noticed when he struck out. Guys, grieve the loss, try and have a good time off, but come back in the spring with a hunger that will consume every opponent and bring us the World Series in 08! Joe

I've been watching the Cleveland Indians since 1956. My office is full of Tribe paraphrenalia. I bleed red and blue. This loss hurts to be sure. You could smell the Series. But . . . as all Cleveland fans know, it ain't over until it's over. And this one ended wrong for us. You lost to a more experienced team, not a better one. I honestly believe that this experience is going to make for a stronger, more resilient team in '08. That's not just feel-good rhetoric. It's true. There are too many very good players in Cleveland for the Tribe to falter like the White Sox and other one-shot wonders did. You'll be back and you'll be armed with the experience the Red Sox used to win this year. Don't waste time replaying all the what-if's. CC and Fausto, Pronk and Grady, and the others who performed below their potential -- they know it better than anyone. And they are pros who will get learn from the experience. Take some time to lick your wounds and then enjoy the off-season. Get ready for next year with your usual routine but, remember, you're now the AL Central champions. Next year you'll be playing with new respect and a new perspective. You're Champs. Play like the champions you are and next year this time, you'll be at the next level. Guaranteed.
GO TRIBE FOREVER!!!

Garko- First things first, thanks for a great season. Obviously this is not how we wanted it to end, but as a long-time fan of the game and former college softball player, I know as well as you, things don't always turn out the way you want them to. That's sports, and that's why we play them. I have never seen my Dad cry and when you guys won the game against the Red Sox in extras, I think he knew something special was happening! He is 69 years old and has been a Tribe fan since 1938, he was there in '48 and '54 and he and I would always talk about how special this 2007 team is. I want to personally thank you for taking the time out of your hectic schedule to write these blogs. It makes us feel like we're right there with you guys, home and on the road. Have a great off-season and once again, thanks for everything. What a season!

To all Indian's fans. As a Red Sox fan let me tell you there wasn't another team out there that scared us as much as the Indians. From my perspective the difference had nothing to do with the better team it was in fact the more experienced team. Some how I don't think I would have felt so bad if the Tribe won it, they deserved it. I salute all the indians players, coaches and fans for a remarkable and terrific season. With no doubt in my mind your a leading contender next year. You have a very classy organization we are proud to be in the same league with you!

Ryan,
I've got a revelation: I'm a baseball fan first, and an Indians fan second. I love the passion of it all, I love the surprises, I love the tension, and I even love the roller coasters that the season gives us. I just love the game.
I'm fond of saying that I was raised on baseball. I don't remember not knowing the rules, or not knowing who the Indians were. My father introduced me to them before I could make memories, I suppose.
This was an amazing season, and you guys play such an amazing game that you made my love for the game grow even more. The team is full of so much class and genuinely good people. No matter what the end result was, I think this line-up has shown the world what a baseball team should be - good players, on and off the field.
Sorry about the snow at the beginning of the season (I was busy digging my car out for four hours while you guys were flying to Milwaukee), and sorry that people don't start showing up at the games until it looks like you guys have a shot at the playoffs. I was there from the beginning of the season, and I was there at the end. And I'll be there next season.
I'll chime in with some others and say a spring training blog would be awesome! I don't have cable, and I can't get down there to see you guys in spring training, so seeing some posts on what happens leading up to April would be very, very cool.
See you next year, and good luck next season!
Sincerely,
Krissy

So close but yet so far. I am disappointed that we didn't get to the Show this year, but as with all Cleveland sports it seems, there's always next year. We are proud of the way you guys hung together down the stretch, over the Yankees, and almost over the BoSox. You have nothing to be ashamed of.

As a resident of Conn. who "usually" roots for the "Sox", I was never so proud of my hometown team to come so far...I think you are an amazing team and I hope you ALL stick together and give us even more exciting baseball next year. I don't think the world series will be as exciting...I am heartbroken that things did not go Cleveland's way; but I know that everyone will be so much more of a threat next year, with this playoff experiance under your belt...
My life will be a snoozefest until February when pitchers and catchers report... so, Thank you so much for the exciting baseball you gave us this season... Please tell Pronk not to be too hard on himself...and I hope they give Asdrubal a huge contract and keep him for good. That infield was spectacular ...Will be waiting till next year...

Ryan,
Like so many on this blog, I would like to thank you and the entire team for a great, great season. No one could have predicted the problems we had this year -- and I won't detail them -- but you guys more than overcame them with superb team effort. Have been a Tribe fan since I was nine years old (listened to the '54 world series in the radio -- Jimmy Dudley and Bob Neal -- with my g-pa in Willoughby on the Lake). Heard the game where Herb Score got hit and almost cried when the (original) 'Rock' (not to be confused with the WWE 'Rock')was traded. Loved the Indians teams then and still love them now. Even converted my spouse into a Tribe fan. You guys may be the 'classiest' team we have ever had. Here is hoping that you and all the Tribe all enjoy your well deserved break. Go Tribe!!!

Ok, first of all I am from suburban Boston and I am a Red Sox fan. Sure many of you hate Sox fans because they are leaving horrible messages on Garko's blog. We were mad when Tribe fans were leaving hatemail on Youk's when you all were up 3-1. I just want to congratulate you all on a great series and season. What you all did to New York was great. And seeing Victor Martinez shed a tear reminded me of why he will probably be one of the best catchers any of us may ever see.
Your team was deep and your fans are great. Just dont hate all of the Red Sox Nation. Some of us, primarily people who have played upper levels of baseball appreciate you.

Dear Cleveland fans,
I have to say that now that I know your team better -- I am nothing but impressed. They are a class act. There are no egos. There are no big-shots or wacky players. Your manager is nothing but a gold star. He exemplifies class. You have nothing to be frustrated about. You played a great series, you beat the Yankees which the Red Sox barely can do and you have a great group of players. I fear the Indians because next year they will be unstoppable. They will be seasoned.
I want to add you did it from your farm system and produced loyalty over fat paychecks and egos. In all honestly, I have more respect for Cleveland than Boston because you guys have shown me what old-fashioned baseball is about. Keep it up! Maybe Cleveland can save the game from millionaries yet!

as a longtime redsox fan i can feel your pain. i saw a few longtime elderly redsox fans (including my father) die before experiencing 2004. we also had some excruciating close calls before that year. this series could have gone either way;it was that close. one more pitcher or better yet, one more big bat in that line-up and you guys are unstoppable. congratulations on 2007 and best of luck in the future.

This is a Red Sox fan expressing his profound and sincere appreciation for the Indians and their fans. If your team had won it have been very easy to accept.
As for big money to buy talent; we said the same thing about the Yankees for years. If you get a championship under your belt I think you would see money suddenly available to buy big talent as well. (Although you have tremendous talent already).
It was so much better to face a team you respect than a team you hate.
See you next season.

I am taking a day of berevment for the sake of my beloved Tribe. A day of reflection and mourn in hopes to heal the bruise that has been left upon my heart. I have traveled to different cities and cheered you on in the presence of opposition. I have raised my hands and yelled in excitement in the confines of my home as I watched the winning run come across home plate. I have chanted your names and pounded the steering wheel, as if I were John Adams himself, as I listen to the drama unfold on the airwaves. I waited for you guys to come out of the clubhouse to meet you, to get an autograph, to get closer to this team, and to show my loyalty.
I have a relationship with you that you do not even know of. My children know your names. You are like family. I have watched some of you come into the club and shine and for some of you just the opposite. It was a fun year together.
The season has come to a close and what a good one it was! So go home now friends and prepare for next spring and we will do it all again.

I normally dont read comments on blogs, i normally never read or care about blogs. I recently saw and starting reading Youk's blog, and i read that indian fans were sending him angry mail. which brings me to this, im a huge Red Sox fan and the only other baseball team i follow is the Tampa Bay D-Rays (because they have a lot of potential and will be great in the near future) so i could care less about the indians loosing. You guys DID choke but we gave u guys a BEATING, Red Sox outscored u guys 30-5 in the last 3 games. But i also can't say the indians aren't a good team because they obviously are if they got this far, down to the last decisive game. My point is this, no Red Sox fan or indian fan or any sport fan can judge any player of any team unless u know them personally which in a very few percentage of fans out there. So y'all indian fans need to relaxxx...and to that guy dave that said he respects the indians more than the Red Sox for his stupid reasons he mentioned...i want to say ur an idiot just for writing that because u don't know any of the players in the Red Sox or indians so u can't say you respect one or the other.

To the Indians, thank you so much for such an awesome series. Two fantastically talented teams duking it out in the fashion they did is exactly what baseball is all about. As a Sox fan, I'm glad it turned out the way it did, but you guys really had us crapping our pants! It really could have gone either way, these two teams were so evenly matched. And chin up to V. Martinez... he's a heck of a player. It's heartbreaking seeing he was so upset; this is such a great team, and hopefully you'll get there soon too. Again, thank you for such exciting baseball, and good luck to the Indians for next year!

Open Letter to Selig:
Amazing how most every year either the Yankees or Red Sox represent the A.L. in the world series. Wow, those clubs must have something very special. How else could you explain such a dominating recoed for these clubs? The fact is they are better clubs, no doubt about it. Thats because they spend 3x,4x,10x as much as the other teams do on players....because they can afford it while others cannot. I dont know about anyone else, but I am sick of two teams loading up on all-stars and acting like they earned their titles. You earn a title when you compete on an even field and then prove to be the best. M.L.B has turned its back on all cities except Boston and New York. The media talks of the "super teams" as if they are special and come through when the going gets rough, what a great story! Thank God the NFL has a salary cap, otherwise we could look forward to the Patriots and Jets squaring off in the AFC championship every year to see who will face the Giants in the Superbowl. MLB, you are the only sport without a salary cap, and your sport will never be "fair" to all teams/cities/fans until you do. Just imagine how great it would be if Boston and NewYork had to build their team with the same amount of money as the KC Royals. There has never been a "dynasty" in baseball, despite popular belief. There will never be a true dynasty until a team earns it, not buys it. Go Rockies...yeah right.
M.L.B needs a salary cap!!!

ok, last comment...to that guy that wrote his "letter" to selig, kid your an idiot, like his gonna see that, and even if he did he wouldnt give a F*** because u contradicted yourself atleast twice. First of all your basically sayin that MLB has like some kind of deal with the Red Sox or yankees to be in the postseason and u just made yourseld look so F****** stupid for sayiin that cuz how long did it take us to win the world series, yeah 86 years. The yankees have won 26 of them but how long has baseball been around for? yeah thats what i thought, shut up!...the fact is that the Red Sox or any other team that goes into the post season and world series is because they are GOOD teams. Sure Red Sox and yankees have more money than other teams but so what, that doesnt mean a "low" payed pitcher cant beat a "high" payed pitcher...your just sad your team lost. What do you mean MLB never had a dynasty, what bout the yankees winning all those world series in a row, i dont like that yankees at all but u have to admit that they were really good and had great players in order to accomplish that. You also said that the patriots and jets would be in the afc every year if there was "something going on" between them and the NFL, but guess what nothing is going on and the patriots have won superbowls like 3 or 4 times so far in recent years and theyr still doing good after all the contreversy...so ***********" shut the **** up and dont speak unless u got prove....and i bet u just made that name cuz ur team lost huh hahahaha

Hey Garko, just want to send a big thank you for lighting a fire under my team's *** with your stupid arrogant comment. Maybe now you have learned to keep your fat mouth shut until it's over.
And to all of you Indian fans complaining about salary caps and that the only reason the Sox won is because they have a higher salary, I ask you this: Did you not beat the team with the highest salary in baseball? For christ's sake, you got Joe Torre fired and sent them into a complete state of disarray (thanks by the way). If you really think that salary has anything to do with it, go support your team more by buying merchandise, or selling the Jake out every night. In New England, people eat, sleep, and breath baseball. People buy bumper stickers, hats, jerseys, tear the roof off Fenway EVERY night. The fans provide a great anount of the revenue spent on it's players. No revenue? Blame yourselves who only come out to support the team when they win. Sox fans are there win or lose, rain or shine.
And furthermore, the Tribe is on the right path by having a well developed farm system. Both the Yankees and Red Sox have been making great strides in that area as well. The winning formula is to have great young talent coupled with a few high price free agent veterans assembled in a meaningful way to form a team. Cleveland has the ability to be just that, except for the fact Cleveland is the land of the eternal loser, which really makes me scratch my head as to why Garko would be so arrogant as to think the Indians had it all wrapped up with his chmpagne comment. Anyways thanks again Garko.

Ryan, Of course I was disappointed in the way the ALCS ended, but I want to thank you and the entire Indians team for an awesome season. You all worked hard, and had much to show for it. I'm already looking forward to the 2008 season. Also, please tell everyone on the team that my dad, who is 79 and handicapped, had a great time watching Indians baseball this season. I love the Tribe!

I quite agree with the open letter to Selig. If you dont agree, you must be a New York or Boston fan. How about the Red Sox trade salary with the Toronto Blue Jays for a couple of years and I am sure your opinion would change superman7292.

superdick7292- sounds like he hit a nerve. You know hes right, it just takes away from the Red Sox glory, as it should. So go look up the Blue Jays salary and decide which 3 Red Sox players you would keep as your entire team for that amount.

This ballteam, and it's fans are 110% support. All in all, we stick together...and keep on going as much as we can. We cried when you cried...at the Tribe Pride Parties...every single time. What other place let's their fans come out and show support like that? There is something magical still here in Cleveland. You guys should be proud of everything you've accomplished this year. I would love to meet you, and just tell you how much you mean to this team and the fans! It'll be hard NOT to go to the Jake till Spring..but believe me, I do scheduled "fly-by's" on the Honda Cbr 1000 (blue n yellow) always putting up the "rock on" horns to the Jake. I am **** proud of my town and the Indians. Thankyou again for sharing your thoughts with the fans. It truly means the world to us!

Ryan-
after reading all of these quotes just reminds me of all the things i didn't say.
First of all, please ignore the Red Sox fans who feel the need to celebrate their victory by rubbing it in our faces. we get it, we lost, we're moving on.
Second of all, like everyone else has said, you guys did amazing. There were mistakes made. In the first game of the playoffs versus the Yankees, my yankees friend walked into the room and sat down and proceeded to rub johnny damons home run in my face. Then he proceeded to tell me that aside from Sabathia and Lofton that none of you had played a game in the post season before so there was absolutely no way that you could beat the yankees and get out of the division series. Well not only did you show him that night in a 12-3 beating of the yankees, you went on to eliminate them from the running.
These things take time. Look at the Cavs, they didn't make it to the NBA finals on their first try. They made it to the first round. The next year they progressed a little further. The next after that. You can't expect to just win it the first time around.
Look at you guys now, the team is solid, a great core, we have the same wonderful guys until at least 2009. And now you all have that post season experience. You all did a wonderful job this season. I fell in love with baseball and cleveland all over again. I spent all of my money this summer on you guys on games and apparel, when i should have saved it all for school. It was so worth it. I'm from Cleveland. I'm proud to say it. Thanks to you ryan and the rest of our team.
see you next year

The Cleveland Indians have nothing to hang their heads over. It has been a fabulous, gutsy, never-give-up season. Can't wait for next April to arrive.
The Yankees and the Red Sox may win but they 'buy' their wins, they don't earn them.
It's time that baseball does something to even the playing field. . . and then see who wins.
Give me a 'blue collar' team that enjoys playing the game, fights and claws for each win and becomes, as Paul Byrd says, a family while doing it.
How lucky we are not to have any 'prima-donnas' on our team.
Only five months until April - can't wait.
Oklahoma fan forever. . .

Ryan,
I live in Columbus, where it’s all about the Buckeyes… but I have to say that after years of being a Buckeye fan, I’ve never had as much fun as I did this year… following the Tribe and becoming a true Indians fan. Your team flag took precedence over a Block “O” on my front door… I proudly displayed it all through the playoffs, and it’s still up. Thank you for such a fabulous year of watching baseball.
My sister in Boston has a friend who is a Red Sox fan through and through, and she told her today… how can you not love the Indians… their talent… their scrappiness and the great group of players they are. I can’t agree more.
This season will forever be etched in my mind as the season I learned to love baseball… the season a fantastic group of guys made it happen for Cleveland. You guys played with so much heart and so much talent and such love for the game that I couldn’t wait to watch it all happening… and I can’t wait to see you again next year. You guys are forever the very best!!

Ryan,
Last night's game may have been upsetting, but I am still proud of the Indians and what they have achieved this year. Even Terry Francona and Josh Beckett had lots of compliments for Cleveland. You are all great athletes and as great athletes, you use mistakes to improve your game. No need for me to expound on that.
I can't believe how some Cleveland fans are going on the "I-hate-being-a-Cleveland-fan" bandwagon because of this upset. To me that defeats the purpose of being a fan. If you are a true fan of ANY team, there is no reason to be ashamed because of a loss, especially if that team is as good as Cleveland. I am sad that we lost the chance to go to the World Series but that doesn't stop me from keeping my head up! Hating being a fan?! It doesn't make sense to me. Cleveland may have fallen short of many victories, but what about Boston? Did Boston fans hate being Boston fans because winning the World Series eluded them for 86 years prior to 2004? And like you said Ryan, this should serve as a motivation, not as a reason to give up.
Regarding the champagne comments from the Red Sox fans... I like how your comment, Ryan, was that of a hopeful team member and Manny Ramirez's comment on potentially losing the ALCS pennant was that of indifference. And did you guys notice the little boy in the Red Sox locker room? He was headed toward one of the guys and asked for a drink then the camera quickly switched to the announcer.

It was a great season and it is true "what doesn't kill you makes you STRONGER". It was a nail biter but what sports isn't. I watched 10 years ago when you went to the World Series. The faces have changed but the stamina and true talent is still there. I look forward to Spring Training. I live in Florida and will come to watch you for the last time before you become part of the cactus league. Next year, watch out Red Sox and Yankees we're bringing our broom.

bitter sweet loss,no one likes to lose but take some positives from all this.next year dont beat CC and fausto for the win. Give them a 100 pitch count/and or 7th inning limit.both were tired by the alcs.get a quality set up man and a closer. and definately more patience at the plate!!The Indians will be back, too much talent not to be.you have a great MGR and talent just need to close games and the world will be yours

I looked forward to reading what you had to say everyday. I am sad that its over. I absolutely love baseball, and I hate the off season, but you need it to improve for next year. I cant wait to see you back in March/April for spring training! You are my favorite player and I cant wait to see what happens next year. You are the best Ryan, and I love you guys! GO TRIBE!

Hey Ryan-
Great job this season! It feels like I was just at Spring Training yesterday watching you practice at first base. And to think that you were still fighting to take that last spot on the roster in Feb/March?! It's amazing how far you and this team have come.
You have quickly become a favorite here in Cleveland but I really don't think it takes much to like a guy like you. I've always been a Sizemore fan but I found myself wearing a Garko shirt at every game throughout the season because I really grew to enjoy watching you play. I feel proud to wear your name on my back because it's obvious how proud you are to play for this city.
I hope that when you think back on this past season, you smile, knowing that you put your heart and soul into this game and you achieved more than you ever thought possible. Not only did you play some great baseball but you awakened this city. A city that gets no appreciation, except from those who live here.
For me, this 2007 season has been the most fun I've had watching baseball in years. I'm already counting down the days until April. I don't know if I'll make it to spring training for your last year in FL but I sure hope so.
Enjoy this offseason and spend it doing something fun...maybe on the beach drinking some Miller High Life! I'll be spending it finishing out my last year of college. After that, I don't know where I'll end up. However, there is one thing I do know for sure. Home opener, 2008, I will be there...once again, with Garko on my back.
For us in Cleveland, it will always be Tribe Time!! Thanks for the excitement.
Take care,
Gracie

Just wanted to say how proud I am to be an Indians fan and of this team. You guys played your hearts out this year and that is all anyone can ask from you guys. As upsetting as last nights loss was, I wouldn't change a thing about this season because I believe you all learned a tremendous amount and you were also a team who played like a TEAM. Congrats for all you accomplished and I can't wait for 2008-the tribe will be unstoppable next year.

i agree that there should be salary cap in baseball. And who cares if we beat the yankees with the highest payroll. they arent a better TEAM than the redsox.the world would just end if the redsox or yankees werent in the world series for three years in a row!! FOX would just die if the world series was tribe and rockies. heck they are already sweating with the rockies in it. im not saying that is why we lost but still.

Ryan,
We all feel your pain today. My 10 year old son cried last night and kept waking up all night long. By this morning he was still bummed but ready for next year where he says we will win the World Series. I dropped him off at school and he realized he forgot his Indians hat and made me go back home and get it. A couple of kids gave him a hard time about his team losing and his quick response was "oh well they did better than your team, at least they were in the playoffs". Maybe we should all look at it through the eyes of a 10 year old, we did better than most other teams this year and we will do even better next year. This team is amazing and we had so much fun being a part of this season. Where we live alot of people suffer from seasonal depression in the winter from the bad weather. We suffer from seasonal depression as well only it has nothing to do with the weather! February seems so far away right now but it will be here in no time. Take care of yourself this winter, enjoy the holidays and the New Year and we will see you in the Spring. The Tribe will be Great in 2008!

Boston fans are even sore winners. God, enough! It's embarrassing that angry illiterates represent the city of Boston. You truly are the worst fans in baseball. If you can even call yourself fans, it's more like vulchers who even pick apart their own.

i agree so much with what m bond girl@yahoo.com just said. the redsox and yankees fans are the worst. boston is so spoiled with its sports teams. Boston redsox just went to the world series. Ryan...I have grown to really respect this team...their character and the way they play the game. I would also say that it's the strong individual and collective character of the Tribe that translates into those late inning wins and the strong finish you young men made to propel you into the postseason.
And you exemplify that perfectly for me...you've quickly become one of my favorite players.
I am looking forward to next year...with the young and talented players that you see around you, I'm sure you are too.

Hey Ryan...
tough series. I'm glad you're not letting any of the haters get to you (though BoSox fans are *MUCH* better than the Yankees). Obviously I'm disappointed, but I'm looking at the positives here. You're such a young, low budget team and you took the two high payrolls to the brink. It's not like we really blew it considering they have guys like Beckett and Shilling - no shame in losing to those kind of players at their home field.
A lot of people will attempt to rag us for losing, but it means nothing. You weren't supposed to be here! Yet you took out the Yankees! Hold your head high and realize that you exceeded expectations.
I won't look back on this season negatively, despite the loss.

I am a diehard RedSox fan and am very happy they won, I really enjoyed the series and I think Cleveland played well. I am offended when some of you say that Boston fans are a-holes. We are not, we are not like the yankee fans that think they are entitled. Boston fans have had their share of heart ache in every sport. Just because we are doing well now doesn't mean we are spoiled. I feel very thankful to have all of my favorite teams playing so well. DOn't be jealous of us. Hey I'm a red sox fan but I have to tip my hat to the indians. you guys played great. this entire series was really great. these two teams "really know how to entertain a crowd". but i'm disapointed that so many indians and red sox fans have been ruining these blogs. Especially those insulting Beckett, Oritz and Ramirez. Beckett may get worked up and the whole querrel between him and Lofton was brought on by BOTH of them. The only explanation I can provide for those against Big Papi is that you are either sore losers or currently in a insane aslumm. If manny isn't trying/doesn't care I don't know how you couldn't have beaten us. Those of you that are going on about the REd Sox being rich etc, I don't want to hear it. The heroes of last night were Pedroia, Youk, Jacoby and Pablebon. Do you even want to know what Pap's salary is??? They are all homegrown great players. I don't know much about the Indian's players, despite seeing them in this series. I think they are great players, but the Red Sox won, even if you think it is unfair. Nobody wants to see a sore loser. Maybe it truly will be Tribe Time next year.

You don't understand why we say that redsox1668? Try reading some of the comments posted by Red Sox fans, and you wouldn't wonder why.
We aren't jealous of you, we went into this series on equal footing, we had the same record, actually ours was a tiny bit better because of the make up games we played. We felt we deserved the win, I think there was some very bad calls, and umpire bias towards your team, so for that we are outraged, but I wouldn't trade our team for anyone's, especially yours!

Well said turner, they don't have the title yet! And lollapalooza, sore winners aren't very appealing either. Your fans have been rubbing our nose in it all day over here, it's very unbecoming.
We feel we were wronged when Kenny was called out at second base, when he was clearly safe. I've heard it mentioned all day today on national sports and news shows, not just Cleveland media. It all went down hill from there in that game, so yeah we feel like if the calls had been fair, and weren't decked up against us, we could have won it. And probably should have. They lost momentum after that, and it got out of control. Allow us to grieve over it without making us feel worse. This isn't the point of Ryan's blog.

And Ryan...excellent hit! Just a few more feet and we would have been up a run. Way to hang in there! We were down at Jacob's Field watching it, and everyone was really proud of you. Great season Gark..looking forward to many more with you in an Indian's uniform.

Hey Ry. I saw this go up last night, and it made me feel a lot better after watching a rough loss. Watching Victor tear up at the end of the game and Wedgie talk about how amazing your team is (how respectful, strong, good teammates, etc) made me start bawling.
I've been a Cleveland sports fan since 2nd grade. It has been so freaking hard but so amazing at the same time. So many let downs, you would think I'd be used to it. But you never get used to it. You always let yourself get your hopes up. Year after year.
And my hopes are already up for next year. You guys are such a young team. Almost all of the players are coming back next year, so we can only get better. Make some good decisions in the post season, work hard, and in a few days try to think about the experience you've gained working hard this postseason. I've very proud of the strides this team has made the past few years both by Shapiro's decisions and the organization's outstanding player development from the Scrappers up to the big leagues.
129 days until spring training. I'm psyched for 2008. It'll take a few more days of mild depression for me to be 100% optimistic again, but it'll be fine. I have full faith in you guys next year.
Thanks for the blogs Ryan. Keep up the good work, Mr. Right Handed Jim Thome. Haha.

Hey Ryan congrats on a great season! Unfortunately it didn't end like we all had hoped it would but you guys left it out on the field and thats all you can ask for. Hopefully this team can learn from this experience and stay intact. As always I will be there rooting you guys on! GO TRIBE!

I look forward to next year when we have more experience on our side, and I look forward to the time when big budgets fail to triumph.

I have been a faithful fan for 54 years and have never seen a player on any team fold as did Travis Hafner in October. The only exceptions are injuries,of course. And if so,why was he not replaced?
His absence really hurt us.Can anyone shed any light at all on what happened with him?

That game last night was sad, kinda heartbreaking... But that's okay. You guys were AMAZING this season. I have loved watching you all, and I look forward to next year! I already can't wait for it all to start again! :o) Go Tribe- I love my Tribe!!!

Awwww, it was ok to have bugs attack the Yankees Joba, at least we scored our run off him by hitting a home run. the guy dominated you til he got swarmed. now you take out your violin and cry about a bad call? hahahahahaha WOULDA COULDA SHOULDA...Ryan even made fun of the Yankees for that. Jeter is a cheater! Byrd does HGH! Hafner hit WORSE than AROD! hhahahaa. You said:
"so yeah we feel like if the calls had been fair, and weren't decked up against us, we could have won it. And probably should have. They lost momentum after that, and it got out of control. Allow us to grieve over it without making us feel worse."

Ive lived in Cleveland my whole life and Ive always been an Indians fan. You and your teammates had an amazing season. You guys are still winners to me and you showed me how a real team sticks together and plays together as one. I cannot wait until next spring! I am looking foward to seeing you and your fellow teammates play. Thanks again!

Alrite im gonna end it right now...for all of you indian fans out there that are writing bad stuff about the Red Sox and Red Sox fans, listen y'all are just sayin what one guy started sayin and are repeating it over and over again...so im gonna set it straight...how the **** are we sore winners, is there even such a thing, if anything you indian fans are the sore losers because you go on here and badmouth us like if it was our fault ur dumb 3rd basecoach kept lofton at third..which by the way that could have been the turnin point NOT when lofton was out at second...and y'all wouldnt be sayin bad stuff bout us if the indians had won, the fact is we destroyed the indians the last 3 games and u know what it was fair and square...no money issue was involved because like i said it doesnt matter how someone is payed because its all about skill...any "low" payed pitcher can beat a high pitched pitcher...we've taken so much heartbreaks from the Red Sox that we've almost gotten use to it, thats why u dont see us with towels being waved around like most other fans in the postseason, because we dont wanna get to excited and then lose but at the same time we're psyched bout having the chance of winnin the second world series in 4 years and also the second in 89 years...so you indian fans need to keep ur mouth shut cuz i know for a fact that IF we lose the world series then were not gonna go out and say bad stuff bout the rockies because they're a very good team and theyre gonna give us tough games, like ur indians except they probably wont be as cocky as ur garko over here. Yeah manny said "who cares" and his right its just baseball and theres always next season, dont get me wrong i love baseball and the Red Sox but mannys attitude as well as the rest of the Red Sox of just having fun got us to the world series...ur team and manager acted like if it was a life and death situation...dont be hatin on Boston because the Red Sox are and have been a very good baseball team,Boston Celtics are gonna be good this year with KG and by the way we're the only team in the NBA to have won 26 NBA chanpionship titles, Patriots are doing awsomeee once again, Boston College are only ranked 2 by a few points, Boston Bruins are doing pretty good...so dont hate on Boston because our teams are doing good and u guys live in the "city of losers" and thats not my sayin, because i heard some lady say that on espn this morning...p.s. our team has money because Boston Red Sox fans live baseball, we love this sport so we support the Red Sox...so if u guys would go to ur stadium and sell out and buy their merchandise maybe u would have more money...and also you indian fans "started" this because if y'll would of just sed good game and not badmouth us then we wouldnt have fired back...so who are the jerks and a-holes now huh?

Hey Gark .......
Well it's over. I've been a Tribe fan my whole life ... since the mid 50's. I've lived with many disappointments over the years from this team. However, you guys do NOT fall into that category. You lost to a very good team that will most likely win the series.... no shame there.
To all the "Red Sox Nation" people giving you **** over the champagne comment ... I saw an interview where one of the Sox players laughed ... said that had nothing to do with "firing" them up ... frankly they're an experienced team that knows how to win ... your so-called comment certainly wasn't their inspiration. Plus from what I've read you really said very little of what's being attributed to you ... lol.... ahh today's media! These fans should just be glad the Sox are the in WS and keep rooting for their BoSox …. Nothing less, nothing more is required of them. Enjoy "The Series" folks!
And to the so-called Indians fans who are all over CC and Fausto ... etc ...these "experts" are not fans as many here have pointed out. You don’t dump on your team just because they lost a game or a series. We older Tribe fans certainly understand that :-)
But the **** with the negative ....
This was the most excited I've EVER been with the Indians. Living away from Cleveland for over 25 years now … MLB.TV was on almost every night you guys played. My wife and I looked forward to our yearly visit to “The Jake” more than ever this season … and you didn’t let us down … a come from behind victory over Toronto. I love baseball again thanks to YOU GUYS. You have a core of excellent young players not even rivaled by those great teams of the mid-late 90’s. You guys WILL be back in the playoffs and the experience gained this season may pave the way to that “World Series” win the team, I and so many other fans have been waiting for, for so many years.
So congratulations to you all on an excellent season and remember, don’t forget to report for camp in February! :-) I’m already anticipating the first exhibition game … Opening Day and next year’s trip to “The Jake”. Thanks to you and the whole team for the great memories of 2007!

we wouldnt be sayin anything bad about your sox if you wouldnt bad mouth our tribe! besides the newspaper makes everyone seem bad. all that Ryan was saying was IF we win the champagne will taste the same and it will still be great. how dare you call cleveland the city of losers. i bet you started watching the redsox in 04. it is the popular thing to do so why not? when you have something inteligent to say then write back. but until then shut up!!!

Ryan,
I didn't get to watch the end of the game, but from reading all the comments ( and skipping the ones from most Bo Sox fans) I understand that Victor got teary-eyed, I think that proves him to be a GREAT man! Tell him for me that he has inspired me in so many ways that I put all of his efforts in baseball into my basketball games. P.S. I cried last night too! But it wasn't becuse I was bummed or anything, I was SO happy for you all, I think you've proved that you are one of the best teams in the game, with one of the best rosters. Watching you guys after and during games I feel so much like a part of the team that if I ever ran into one of you guys I could strike up a conversation with you! Thanks for giving me that feeling! Hoping next year to be able to get your autograph! I'd treasure it always! Love you all, your like my second family!

Nothing quite says "class" like coming to a player's blog to rub-in a season-ending loss.
The funny part is, most of the comments are along the lines of "ha! you motivated us with your reference to champagne!", which is really quite ironic, because those comments will provide the exact same motivation for Garko next year.
Garks: thanks for the great season. The Red Sox obviously played well, but I think there were more than a couple bad calls from the umpires that went Boston's way (balls/strikes, Kenny out at 2nd base, etc). The "Fox Track" (or whatever it is) showed the absurdity of some of the ball/strike calls, and the rest were clear from watching the Gamecast on mlb.com. Like I said, I'm not claiming that we would have won had those calls gone the other way, but it's a load of bucking fullsh!t nonetheless.
Fausto in-particular was victimized by the poor (and most importantly) inconsistent calls at the plate. Kenny also (on the flip side).
Anyway - thanks again. Looking forward to watching Manny get drilled in the ribs during 2008 Spring Training! :)

Ryan,
THANK YOU for making this one of the most memorable seasons I have ever experienced! From Snowpening Day (so much fun!) to the last home game in the post-season, I was there cheering you guys on! I have been a huge fan for a long time, and this year has definitely been my favorite. The fun personalities you guys have as a team really shows on and off the field. I've never had so much fun watching someone get pied in the face!! ps I LOVE the tshirt they came out with for that!
Even though I totally cried last night, I know that you guys don't need to win to be the best team in baseball. You put everything you've got into each game, you bring fun elements into it, you seem to love the fans, and none of you are too cocky for your own good(I don't want to mention names, but it rhymes with Manny). It's all of these elements put together that make the best team.
I am so proud to be a HUGE Tribe fan(even though my friends and fam think I am way out of control and crazy)!!!!
I absolutely cannot wait until March to see you all in Winter Haven! It's my favorite time of the year for sure! You guys will totally rock in 08, just as you did this season! Send all the guys my love and best wishes! See you in Florida! :)

You missed the whole point of my derision at Garko's champagne comment - the point was this: Garko has a bit of a big mouth. He talked about other teams, their fans, he mocked the Yankees for swatting at the bugs like they were bullets, he even mocked the Yankee fans and us Sox fans, even if it was a misquote he deserves the backlash for the other things he said, hopefully he thought about all that while he cried after losing.

hello again from a sane Boston red sox fan--let's try this.. if you are a reasonable person, not given to profanity..like alot of red sox and cleveland fans.. just ignore their posts.. read the good ones.. hopefully mine is one.. Cleveland, you have a **** of a team..and yes it is great that is mostly young eager players--it is great to watch them.. but it is also great to watch young players like Pedroia, Youklis, Ellsbury, Clay Buckholz(from our farm system who threw a NO-hitter but didn't get to play in the series.. watch him next year!) along with great veterans like Ortiz, Lowell, Shilling, and yes..even Manny Ramirez... so.. .a great memorable series.. .i'm so glad the last game was tight..either team could have won... we got lucky and pulled it out.. just make sure you guys do NOTHING but support guys like Carmona..Perez..Sabathia..Bettancourt...etc.. they are amazing pitchers... and will be even more formidable next year.. and I"m sure Hafner is suffering over his lack of production--it happens to all great hitters... now we go to play the Rockies.. it should be a great series---- and remember,.. ignore the negative/nasty posts.. focus on the positive..there is PLENTY of that to go around....

Congrats on an amazing season!! I loved every second of it and having the Tribe make it to the playoffs and even beating the Yankees was an accomplishment in itself.
With all of the **** from the media and all of the negative attention leading up to the big Game 7 about the Tribe, I actually couldn't be happier. Everyone else is starting to realize what a threat the Indians are and that this team can accomplish great things. So what you didn't make it to the World Series? It meant a lot to Cleveland and all of the TRUE Tribe fans. But then again...there's always next year isn't there? Please forward my congrats to the rest of the team (Oh and by the way, you did a **** of a job this season! Your one great player Garko!). Thanks for motivating the SOX Garko... excellent strategy... maybe next year you guys will worry about trying to win a series clinching game instead of trash talking. Or atleast back up your trash talking. Instead what do you do? Choke it away 3 games in a row... even if i wasnt a Sox fan i would be happy that you lost... and tell Kenny Lofton "UP!"

Also, Indians fans need to learn how to spell... warn me mlbblogs@yahoo.com i could care less... it's not red sox nations fault that we are hated on for being good. our players don't trash talk out of no where, we show respect to opponents, so i couldn't be happier that lofton, garko and the likes are going to be playing golf early this year... atleast in the world series i will be able to enjoy great baseball between two classy organizations who don't run their mouths!

I would like to thank you and the rest of the team for an amazing year!! I love baseball and I know that it brings people together and can help heal them. I graduated from Bluffton University this past May where we lost 5 players this spring from the tragic bus accident in Atlanta, GA. After the guys got back all they wanted to do was play and as a fan all I wanted to do is see them play. When I came back to Cleveland after living through that horrific time I turned to the Indians to help me during the pain, and I thank you guys for giving me and the rest of Cleveland a great season.

P.S. I love when you wear your socks up and the fact that you have number 25. Two reason that you are second on my list of favorite players, behind Jim Thome. oh and also.. as far as that quote goes.. even if you did say it towards Boston.. Who cares.. people dont realize that sometimes we say things that might go a lot farther that what we had hoped... It happens to everyone.. and if they get pissed .. oh well.. If that had anything to do with Boston doing better and winning, then that tells you something about them. In my own opinion.

As a Sox fan, I am thoroughly embarrassed by the posts of a select few Red Sox "fans". If you're wondering why I'm here instead of Youk's blog, I was reading some of those posts and saw all the negative posts against the Sox and their fans. And then one post said that it was because of all the negativity on Garko's blog....I just came over here to check it out. Please know that the majority of us don't feel the need to make you feel bad by the outcome of the series. It was a nerve wracking series for both teams and really, it could have gone either way. Just know that most of us respect both the Indians and their fans, and we feel for you. Congratulations on the great season and best of luck next year!

Thank you and your team mates for the tremendous season of baseball in Cleveland! I never knew much about baseball until I married my husband in 1991. As the success of the Indians escalated in the 90's so did our trips to Jacobs Field and have continued thru this season. I told him as we left a recent playoff game that what has been special about the 2007 Indians is the way the players really played as a team- and without the cockyness of some of their oppossing players. It was one of the most genuine, hard working teams ever to play at Jacobs Field. The demeanor and determination which the players exhibited made this team fun and special to watch. There are many lessons baseball can provide that mimic hurdles in life. We have all gone through one tough lesson. Sorry to see things didn't turn out as hoped, but as fans, we will be there again next season with support for another great season. Lots of special memories will be remembered from this 2007 season at Jacobs Field. Thanks again!

Indians Fans: Stop whining about Sox fans coming here and rubbing it in. Go back over the posts from when you guys were up 3-1 and you'll have your answers as to why you're all being tormented by Sox fans. The rseries wasn't even over and you guys were already talkin trash. From a fanbase that's so acustomed to losing, it's shocking that you would actually think it was alright to talk it up before the series was over. That and Garko's stupid comments like he thought the series was over.

Does anyone really care about some fat-cat advertising executive who is worried about his already inflated rates going down because the Tribe is going to erase the aristocratic East Coast fair weather fan base?
Yeah...didn't think so. Go buy another pink Red Sox hat, you sal.
Posted by: roll_tribe@hotmail.com | October 18, 2007 02:04 PM
And tlee, Boston sells out every game because...
A) The miraculous upset over the Yanks 3 years ago has given the team cache and attracts the wealthy, who are willing to pay ridiculously inflated ticket prices because it's a cool place to be seen
B) I believe it may be the smallest ballpark in the country...if not close to it.
C) And you do have a legitimately large loyal fan-base.
But you can talk about attendance all you want, slick. I'll take the wins. Hope those stellar attendance figures keep you warm this winter.
Oh and the Red Sox are a wealthy team because of television contracts, not attendance.
Posted by: roll_tribe@hotmail.com | October 18, 2007 02:10 PM
Facts...like the fact the Red Sox are down 3 games to 1? That kinda seems like an important fact.
And the fact that you sit when you pee...but that's not so much important as really embarrassing and kinda debilitating.
Posted by: roll_tribe@hotmail.com | October 18, 2007 02:25 PM
Youk, MLB should get a urine sample from you. Because you are not that good and neither is your team. And I wouldn't ramble on about how the doubters should start believing in you because you haven't won anything. Last time I checked, nobody was crowned World Series Champs yet.
Too bad you won't get to play when you go to Colorado. No DH buddy boy! So, Papi will be taking your position at 1B. You'll have some time to get the HGH out fo your system.

The red sox can't do it give it up, the indians are an overall better team. Take a look at the overall picture what team always comes through in the clutch, the TRIBE. Come on Indians lets bring the world series home to cleveland and youklis try putting a bucket on that big head of yours because the helmet just don't work.

To be the best you need to beat the best. The Tribe is going thru the Evil Empire gauntlet of NY & Boston. Even Clint Eastwood would be smiling after these Tribe wins - and who knows maybe even Sandra Locke
Go Tribe !!!

This should teach all involved for Boston or New York. This game is about TEAM, not money. This game is about 1-9 working together, not relying on a PAPI, MANNY, YOOOUUK, A-Rod, Beckett, or any big money player to carry you. Instead, it is about a bunch of men coming together as a team to accomplish one thing, to WIN! Colorado vs. Cleveland is coming because its about TEAM, not superstars or money!

As a Red Sox fan, I know that the Indians will continue to be a team to reckon with! What a great series! You have a team that can mature into a powerhouse. Thanks for being such good sports and accepting defeat with such class. I was brought to tears by the shots of the Indians dugout at the end of the game. I wish the hardline fans of both teams could be as classy.

Thanks for being a reasonable voice on the Garko blog---as a baseball fan, it's simply disgusting to read all the nasty comments. There are players I don't like as well as others (on BOTH teams), but this is about a game that we should all love and respect. It was a great series and a great season for both of our teams.
Good luck in the Series. And watch out, cause the Rockies are the real deal too. I swear to God, I think they've forgotten how to lose!!!

HAHAHA MLBBLOGS is "warning" me to stop "spamming" i dont even know what that means hahaha, plus i see alot more people posting more and more of the same S*** they said over and over again. The ONLY reason why Red Sox fans are firing back at you indians fans is because off all of your trash talkin about us and the Red Sox when yall were up 3-1....so next year keep your mouths shut and also you indians should do the same (garko)...i do gotta thank you for setting the whole yankee organization in panic mode and for giving us a good series because im not gonna lie you indians are really good but obviosuly not that good because WE WON!!! and we are the better team...everyone in our team is good...now we'll face the rockies (a good, respectful, no-talking-s*** organization) and it should be a very very good series....and if we lose, we lose, we aint gonna be like yall indian fans and start talkin s***, we'll just say hey we lost to a good team and thats it

and who ever is sayin garko's champagne comment lit a fire on our team is just completly stupid and retarded, cuz c'mon now how the **** is that gonna motivate a team in the MLB....they aint kids...we just beat u fair and square because we were the better team
Report any abuse or spam
We definitely saw the papers here in Boston. People were calling us a joke and talking about how this series is already over. As a player, you read it, and a lot of times you don’t care. But anything you can use as motivation this time of year is great. When you’re on the road, you always get that taste. Detroit is probably my favorite place for it. They were ripping us up all year in the Detroit papers, talking about how we were going to choke. We got another little taste of it today. It makes it all the more fun to go on the road and win games like this.
TELL GARKO THIS: NEXT YEAR KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT UNTIL YOU WIN A SERIES...DON'T TALK S*** ABOUT ANY CITY,THEIR FANS, OR EVEN THEIR PAPERS.

i'm not sure the whole thing sunk in until late last night when i just started crying..my mom told me to get a life but i cant right now. i have never loved a cleveland team as much as this one and that could be why this hurts so much. this will take a little while to get over but i'm just imagening how you guys feel. but on the bright side, when spring training come around (which it cant come fast enough) you guys will have atleast one year of "october experience" under your belt and you can learn from the mistakes you've made. dont hang your heads down though because you guys have accomplished so much this year and you are a young team. from what i've heard, all most all of the team is coming back next year, so that means every baseball team better be scared!! enjoy the off season and i cant wait to see you guys in 2008!! it will always be tribe time now!! i love you guys!

It was a brilliant season of comebacks, heroics and a true sense of "teamwork". I don't believe I've ever felt a team more deserving of a World Series berth than this one. You all represent Clevanders and Ohioans. We're scrappers. We survive. We work for our paycheck. You play the game because you love to play it. There's simply no better reason than that...and it showed in the results.
It is, however, going to take time for some of us fans to recover. We've endured so much heartache, so many almosts-but-not-quites. This year, right now, seems like another one of those. The fantastic turnaround from last season isn't as significant as the extreme collapse in the ALCS. In time, we'll all be able to appreciate exactly what this team did this year. For now, I can say "thanks" but I still have a broken heart to deal with.

You sniffling little Cleveland Indians biitches. You didnt lose becuase of how much we pay our players. You lost because that nasty, dirty, **** infested city you live in cant put a real team together. Maybe if you spent some money on real players and not a bunch of no-name hacks you would have a chance. But even then I doubt you could win. You ARE the "mistake by the lake". Your choking players ****, your manager *****, your fans **** (and blow) and you are destined to be losers forever. Couldnt happen to a more pathetic city. The Clowns ****, the cavs ****, and most of all the indians ****. Your team was lucky to even make the playoffs. Now you want to cry like biitches because we pay for good players and win, while you overpay your dugout full of AAA farm team players and as you should lose. Suuck it Cleveland!

In regards to soxdude,
It must be awesome proving that most people are a waste of space by coming here and disrespecting not only us, but the people in Boston that aren't ignorant.
I knew it was too good to be true when we went up 3-1, but I'll be damned if I didn't say EVERY fan in Boston had their buttholes puckered for the next 3 games, especially Game 5 in Cleveland.
I will give props to Beckett, who I think might deserve the Cy Young Award just a little more than CC or Fausto.
I look forward to next season, when we can give the BoSox another run for their money. The only thing I don't look forward to is fans like Soxdude, who will talk trash whether they stomp us, or get thrashed.

First, as a Sox fan, I want to congratulate the Indians on a great season, and a great series. The scores of most of the games don't indicate how close they really were.
Second, I watched Erik Wedge answer some really tough questions after the seventh game and he did so with great dignity. I have a lot of respect for him, and for the Indians. They, along with the Sox were the best teams in baseball this year, there's something to be said for that.
Next, I don't recognize most of the Sox fans who come here to be idiots. We don't see them on the Sox blog, but I guess there are a few everywhere. Don't let the comments here be the basis for your feelings about Sox fans. I assure you, most of us have a great deal of respect for the Indians. If you don't believe me, go to the Sox web site and look at Ian Browne's baseball blog and see how the Sox fans talked about the quality of Indians' players.
Next, probably the most talked about play of the series was the play on which Kenny Lofton was thrown out at second base by Manny Ramirez. You have to look at the whole play, and when you do, I feel sure you will agree that Lofton was definitely out. There is no question he beat the throw to second base. His hand was clearly to the bag before he was tagged. However, as he continues his slide, his hand comes up off the bag, and Lofton loses contact with the bag and when that happens, he is tagged out by Pedroia. It doesn't happen often, but in this case the umpire is in perfect position to make the call. I firmly believe that Lofton believes he was safe, but if you watch the replay, and take it beyond his first contact with the base, you'll see that the call was correct.
Finally, what many consider a coaching blunder by not sending Lofton home on the Gutierrez ground ball that came off the wall and back into left field would under normal circumstances have been a very good call by your third base coach. What made it look bad was the fact that our shortstop, Julio Lugo, has no brain. He should have been on that ball like flies on cow dung, but he fell asleep on the play and Manny wound up fielding the ball. Anyone who plays shortstop at Fenway knows where that ball is going and should have been there. Lofton could have scored easily, but if Lugo does what he's supposed to, and makes a decent throw to the plate, Lofton is out by 30 feet. It's the way of things in Fenway. The bad break wasn't that Lofton didn't score, it was that Blake hits into a double play.
Enjoy the winter, be proud of your team and for vessalo.1, I don't want to hang out here, just wanted to stop by and show a little appreciation for a good team.

SOME OF MY FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT THE 2007 TRIBE:
RALLY PIE!!! the single coolest thing in baseball since the Angels had the rally monkey - only this is way better.
the NEVER SAY DIE attitude this team had all year.
knowing we had a chance to be playin in OCTOBER
FAUSTO!
FRANKLIN!
ASDRUBAL!
EVERYONE!!!
JAKE WESTBROOK and PAUL BYRD'S pitching in the playoffs
the way the tribe players introduced the lineups during the playoffs on tv with all the NICKNAMES. (g-size! t-pronk! little omar! k-lo!)
sitting at applebees watching the 11 inning come from behind win against the YANKS.
explaining to non tribe fans how cleveland was the home team in milwaukee playing the LA angels
the camera shot during the all-star game with vic, c.c., and grady. i tink it was vic wo had his arms around the other two - brothers in arms enjoying the experience
yes, the CHAMPAGNE! flying everywhere in the clubhouse when the tribe won the central div. The buckets of ice water were a great touch too!
watching the tribe/sox games at home waving tissues that we'd written "IT'S TRIBE TIME NOW" on (because mom wouldn't let us write it on one of her towels.)
again, those COME FROM BEHIND WINS, esp. the WALK-OFFS! (really loved the one when Gark got both the tying HR & game winning hit!)
rolling with laughter when my 16 mo old nephew, who can only say a few words, walked over to the tv while we were watching the tribe/yanks series, stared at it for a while, then yelled EEEEWWWW!!!
when the camera came in for a close up on one of the yankees.
knowing that NEXT YEAR WE'VE GOT A GREAT TEAM TO LOOK FORWARD TO! BRING IT ON '08!!
GO TRIBE!!!!

As a real sox fan I'll say that one of the negative byproducts of success is having A-holes become 'fans' of your team so they can talk **it about everybody else because they are 'winners'. So, I'll ask everyone to ignore the sad comments by the losers posing as Sox fans. As a fan I am pround and happy, and if we had lost I would probably be hating cleveland, but because I am a true fan I'll say the Indians are a GREAT team. They played us tough in game 7 with all the momentum against them and they hung in till the end. It was a prime display of everything that is great about baseball and sports. Thank you for the series, I would have rather beat you in 4, but I appreciate your play. Garko- your comment was innocent and I feel bad for you because now you'll have to eat it the rest of your life. You are a good guy though, good luck!

Ryan,
Congrats on the season, on the accomplishments, and playing with pride as a team. I loved watching you as much as I hated watching the losses. Whether it was the first or unfortunate the last loss. I lost my dad this year and our favorite thing to do is watch baseball. I grew up watching the Indians with him. Watching you guys everyday really helped with my grieving. Watching you win helps even more. My grandmother who is 85 years old still watches every game. We are an Indians family. I would like to thank you and the team for the great season. I know this is the beginning of great things to come. I watched every game unless interrupted with work. I am in Iraq serving my Country and enjoyed watching you and the Indians play this great AMERICAN game on my computer. I know people always politicize things, however I go out and work hard everyday, and I enjoyed coming home and watching you guys go out and work hard everyday as well. Thanks for the great memories, and I look forward to next season. Go Tribe, Tribe time is NOW and is not ending anytime soon.

Ryan – although Sunday night’s outcome left me in tears, I thank you for a great season! Now you can watch Major League and understand our pain (and hopefully you agree that it is the greatest movie ever made)! I have so many fond memories of the Indians – growing up in Cleveland Municipal Stadium with my family (no matter how bad the Indians were, we were there), and watching the 1997 World Series with my roommates in college (unfortunately we were a little naïve back then and took our victory shots too soon). I am currently living in Chicago, and this entire city was rooting for you as well this postseason. It is so difficult being a Cleveland sports fan, but I hope the fans have been good to you in Cleveland! Hopefully it all comes together in 2008 – sixtieth time’s a charm, right? I really enjoyed reading your blog throughout the postseason – not only are you the best looking Cleveland Indian, but you can also write! That Stanford education is shining through…..there is nothing hotter than a man with intelligence! Enjoy your off season….don’t run off and get married on us, the ladies of Cleveland have had enough heartache to deal with this week :) We are so proud of our team…..thank you, and good luck! Until then, GO BROWNS!

Excellent season! Born and lived in Cleveland area for 19 years before moving to Cincinnati. Still a Tribe fan here in Cincinnati. I was unable to watch you guys play on TV in Cincinnati, so I listen to the games on MLB Audio. My father still lives in Cleveland area and we would talk during the post game interview just to see who would get a pie in the face! First let me say congrats on your fine season. Being a Red Sox fan for most of my 50 years let me say not all Sox fans are idiots. As with any fans there are those few that make the rest look bad. As far as our payroll Refresh my memory, were you really so worried about the money when you had us down by 3? Did you think it made a difference then? Did you not beat the Yankees? Did you not win the exact same number of games as we did? Yes we have a higher payroll than you but you gave us a run for our money. So don't boo-hoo over money. Have a good off season and see you next year and stop being so petty.

Hey Gark, I'm from Mid-Ohio and I've been a Tribe fan all 32 years of my life. What a tough loss, but it's been a heckuva wild ride in 2007. You're going to go all the way next year and get the Sox again in a rematch to get to the World Series. As for my fellow Tribe fans posting nasty **** on Youkilis' blog and the Boston fans doing likewise on Ryan's blog, just knock it off and quit acting like middle schoolers! Yes, the Sox won but at least show a little more class and respect for both teams, will ya! As for Sox fans who are giving the Indians positive remarks after we went toe to toe with their team, now that's what I want to see. Good sportsmanship. That's the way it ought to be. I greatly appreciate and respect fans of any opposing team (Boston especially) who show equal admiration for our beloved Indians. To Wedge and co, keep your heads up and get ready for next season. This is a young and hungry team. Train hard and keep playing like you did this year. Win or lose, you'll always be #1!! It's Tribe Time Forever!!!

In game 7, Ryan, we needed to get back to how we took the lead earlier, Grady should have lead off the game with that bunt single. Dice-K showed in game thre that he will struggle more with runners on base. Pronk really needed to hit that first pitch he saw from Him. Was the best pitch to hit until the pitch he did finally hit. Eric Wege could have helped, like tske out Betancourt quickly in the 8th. and not keep Laffey out of the game, Now, he gets 4 months rest, The red sox have a lot more trouble with new pitchers they had seen little of. Betancourt has been in just about every game. and I am afraid that you guys were given little or no signs when you batted. and you know, maybeyou needed Jason Michaels approach, see ball hit ball, or go for contact hitting. I just saw too much predictable play from you guys.let's see how Colorado attacks these guys. If Colorado wins, take notes, and use them next year against them. If you can communicate with Fausto, tell him this, Against Boston, he needs his pitches to start a little higher, but to drop like a rock. They too, can look bad like Pronk did

Here's my observation on the Tribe's collapse- After game 5 it appeared as if you guys went into panic mode. The guy(Sabathia) who has been your leader all year went out for the second straight time in the series and allowed his emotions and nerves get the best of him. And Beckett came out and brought new life to the Sox. You guys started to become impatient at the plate and swung at too many first pitches. You guys looked like a different team in the field. In game 6, Carmona wasn't getting the calls on the outside of the plate and it rattled him. I remember watching the TV coverage at the end of game 6 when you guys were leaning up against the fence of the dugout and you guys looked beat. Lofton tried his best to light a fire behind you guys but you lost the confidence and never found again. Chalk that up to inexperience. I hope you're right when you say "wait til next year", because the truth of the matter is that it isn't easy to get back to the post season.
Now, having said that, I am a diehard Tribe fan and have been all my life. I will be counting down the days until spring training and opening day of 2008. And after the sting of this collapse subsides, I will be looking back at this season and calling it magical.
I hope you all keep in mind what has happened to Jim Thome since he left Cleveland . He hasn't been back to the post season since and hopefully never will (unless he comes back to Cleveland). I gotta hope that's karma for turning his back on the city and fans that worshipped him at one time.
This team certainly has a chemistry that I hope carries over for years to come. Thanks to you all for an exciting year. Now, next year, don't choke!!!
And to all the Sox fans who are posting **** on this board- you are just proving your reputation as classless and crude. Way to go. We expected nothing less from you.

Hey Ryan,
Just wanted to let you know I watched the game 7 and thought to myself that if you guys were at Jacobs Field there would have been at least six or seven homers that night especially your double off the green monster and the shot in the eigth. Now you guys have everyone back and barring freak snowstorms in april, maybe the team can get some off days this next season and secure home field advantage throughout the playoffs. I don't know of many other teams that could have gone through the difficulties of injuries to starting pitching and had so many young players and made it so far. Umpires didn't help much in game 7 either. I live in Akron and am so upset with the fans being so dissapointed by a "Meltdown in Beantown". Its rediculous. So many people make it easy to be an armchair baseball player. Hindsight is 20/20 and until they are on the field playing against the Red Sox in Boston then they can make criticisms about heart and desire. Sometimes baseball is a game of good and bad breaks. This time you were just unlucky and Boston got some lucky plays. If Boston was down because of the calls we could have won easily beating the crownd and shutting them down. You guys are great. My son is six and said he wants to play on the Indians. I feel that you play for the children like him that look up to you as heroes and root regardless of the score. Your an awesome player and give a lot of heart. Keep up the good work and the long stretches. Your an awesome first baseman and you get better every game. Your hard work is showing. Go Tribe!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, Ryan, to you and all of your teammates, for a thrilling, exciting, wonderful season, although with a tragic end. Who says there's no crying in baseball? But I agree with your statement that this isn't the end of something, it's the beginning! Can't wait for '08, and Go Tribe!!

Ryan, Hearing your words makes it a little easier to swallow. In my lifetime (42yrs) I have never had a Cleveland team win anything !!! Football, Basketball, Baseball. Just once I want to be the team on the other side. Just once before I die. My first love is Chief Wahoo and next the Browns. I placed a Chief Wahoo decal on my Mothers headstone in Cleveland each of the last 2 yrs for luck. I will do it again next year ! She was the biggest Tribe fan and still is !!! Go Tribe !

Thanks Gark! You guys sure did make the season interesting to watch this season, thats for sure. I am sure you guys will be back to the playoffs next year. Boston was a good team, but not a great team, they had a lot of things go their way that changed the outcome of the game in my opinion. Bad hops, timely home runs, all which added to their momentum. Thanks for a great season and GO TRIBE! By the way, are you sick of hearing about the Yankees every day as I am! They lost, get over it, I could care less if A Rod or Jeter or whoever is ther enext year. Instead of focusing on you guys, they focused on the future of the Yankees. WHO CARES!

Gark and Guys~
I think you guys had a great season. You all worked together like a team and a family. That is just so awesome to see. You dont see that all the time nowadays. I think everyone on the team did their part when needed and that is what counts. It wasnt a one person team it was an effort by all.
Gark, I think that you guys should(if you havent already) celebrate. Bring out the champagne and just go at it for this great season. For an awesome post season. WOW you guys all did great. Im really pumped for the 2008 Indians. I believe someone else has already mentioned this but it will be 60 years since Cleveland has won the World series and I think you guys can. We got pretty darn close to it this year!!!
Good luck guys! Have a great winter and see you March 31, 2008!!!!

Garko,
Just wondering how the champagne tests...oh wait a minute. You guys have a good team, but the baseball world figured that your inexperience would get to you. Looks like it did. Don't go giving a team with the Red Sox' firepower more motivation than they need. Please tell Kenny we said thanks to. Like he was going to do anything when he came to the mound.

My heart bled for you guys, and the saddness I could see in your faces after the loss. Made me want to cuddle the lot of you. Next year starts fresh, and I don't belive in curses, or that any team is pre-disposed to end the season a certain way... you guys will make what you will of it. 'Will' is such a strong word, you willed yourselves and believed in yourselves so strongly that you were able to fight and claw your way to the top. You guys keep playing your game your way, and win or lose thats enough for me.

You guy's did your best. But I don't buy that BS. I am tired of getting my heart broken. I am tired of the saying WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR. Can you tell I am pissed. I will not spend another dime of my hard earned money on this garbage. Really are you guy's really hurt? Well watch fox 8 & see if it sinks in to where you could have been. Sorry, but I have to get that off of my chest. Yours's truly, Broken hearted Cleavelander. Why didn't somebody knock that showboating P.O.S Ramirez down to the ground after his homerun.

I kinda understand that Indian fans are down about their team losing and all.. and you know I give the Indians a lot of props because they played a heck of a series against us.. I give the Indian players a lot of credit because you guys are really talented.. however i really didnt like the fact that the Indians organization behaved in a unproffesional level against the red sox in the playoffs.. I mean first kennys loftons attitude and the cheap things he did like in that dice k at bat.. if ur good why you have to try to get other advantages and not depend only on ur talent.. and then the whole putting beckets ex to sing the anthemn.. i found that really cheap coming from whats considered one of the best organizations.. add to that garkos comments about Indians being better than red sox and the whole wine tasting just as good on the road.. that had to be the worst attitude coming from a player on an opposing team.. that was not a proffesional thing to say and inpolite to the red sox club house.. this all being said i dont think this all applys to all the indians players and the whole organization.. the thruth is the indians outplayed us in games 3 and 4 and we outplayed them games 1,5-7.. both teams are good and in the end the team that won outplayed the other theres nothin else to it.. last of all about the comment on our payroll.. the redsox have nothin to apologize for the amount of money they have.. money doesnt neccesarily guarantee championships.. if not the yankees would win every year.. execution down the stretch is the one that does.. so please stop all the red sox hating because the red sox did have the best season in the majors..

Hi Ryan,
I remember following the Indians as a kid growing up in Florida during the late 1950's and the 60's. No matter how disappointed I felt after each season, there was always optimism about next year's team. Well even though I loved the Indians AL championship teams from the 90's, this year felt truly like the "next year's team" I had always dreamed about as a kid. Maybe it was because I followed this team closer, or maybe it was because of the special people who played on the '07 Indians. From seasoned veterans like Kenny Lofton "coming back home" to the young players like yourself beginning their major league careers, it really felt like you guys were a family that grew together a little bit every day. You went through all of the highs and lows of a grueling 162 game season plus 11 playoff games. Now you deserve to be very proud of what you accomplished and enjoy a relaxing but productive off-season. I hope that the nucleous of this team can remain together and injury free for a long time. If you do, you may look back on 2007 as the beginning of Cleveland's long awaited championship dynasty. If you look at other sports dynasties, they seldom started out with championships. There is usually at least one building year where the team shows remarkable improvement and great promise before breaking through with the first of multiple championship seasons. I believe that the 2007 Indians are going to be another team that will be remembered like the New England Patriots of the late 90's and the Chicago Bulls of the early 90's. Thanks for posting this blog during the playoffs. I feel like it brought the fans closer to the team and helped them on a daily basis to understand what it felt like to be going through what had to be an incredible experience. I also felt like it showed the human side of yourself and each of your teammates. Like how a player might feel after making an error and then making a great play to end same the inning without any runs scoring. May God bless you, your teammates, and your families. Thanks for some incredible baseball moments to remember, and here's to many more to come.

Hey Ryan,I'm a proud indians fan because of the way you guys left your hearts out on that feild in game seven and during the whole series. If a couple of breaks go your way, I truely believe that you guys win game7 and the series. But thats how baseball is, you win some and you lose some,Just remember theres always tomorrow.who cares if its next year,I'll be there to back you guys the whole year in 08.I'd like to Thank you and everyone else on the team for playing the game the right way.C U next year, till then GO TRIBE!!!

Fact one First
kenny lofton didnt start with the Tude, this came to me straight out of a Sox fans mouth at the game...it was a misunderstanding followed by Becket with the first comment
Fact two
Beckets X singing the NA had nothing to do with any thought process except for the fact the orginal person signed had to cancel and it was a last minute decision because Taylor Swift had to cancel so the country music promoter put Danielle in!
Fact three
so what, Garko and his champagne comment......lets get serious, nothing wrong with that at all and Im sure it was said by many a ball player in another park..like that was a big deal???
thats my story and im sticking to it.....

the indians are the biggest joke in baseball. you had the series all wrapped up, all you had to do was finish the deal. but no, you FAILED...and you did it miserably! hahahahaha! i am a true red sox fan and have been for almost 20 years and to watch all the indians fans cry and whine makes me the happiest person alive. i was at the shiitty jake to see games 4 and 5 and i stuck it out through the taunting, the threats, the shoving, and the beer being thrown at me. you all told me after game 4 you were the best and there was no way the sox could come back being down 3-1 and that i should just pack my bags and go back to boston. but i stuck around cause i knew that if anyone was going to upset a whining, over rated team up 3 games to 1, it was my sox. and sure enough ryan fat garko, you guys blew it. it was almost as good as beating the yankees after they were up 3-0 back in 2004, but at least that team had worthy talent. all you indians fans are fair-weather...you boo manny and coco cause they play for the boston. but if they still played for your pathetic team you would cheer for them the way you do for the rest of your talentless team. so you, ryan garko, you are a waste of space. and cc is so fat he makes big papi look like a model. i wish, if only for a minute, could i go back to the jake and laugh so hard into all of your crying faces and tell you, "i told you so". instead for now, i will stay here in my lovely city of boston where i dont have to deal with swarms of bugs flying around my dirty city. but rest assured, i will be back next year to travel with the sox back to cleveland and i will have my day of glory. i cannot wait to laugh at all of you. take note of this world series, its where you could have been. BUT YOU ALL BLEW IT!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! GO SOX!

WOW...you Boston fans are something. I haven't visited this blog since the ALCS ended, and it's just unbelievable how classless some of you can be (Furio in his basement, for example). Thanks to those who showed some class. You're in the WS...Congrats!
Nobody bothered to mention that Garko's champagne comments were made during the ALDS against the YANKEES! And guess what...Ryan was right, it does taste just as good on the road as it does at home! Nice job by the media getting that comment wrong! Hey, if Boston wins the WS in Colorado, tell me how that champagne tastes. You better NOT say it tastes just as good on the road since you made such a big deal about Ry's comment. You would have to admit that he was right!! Enough already.
And for those of you in Boston who continue to say we choked or stink...take a closer look at our team. We brought these kids up through our Farm system. They worked hard to get where they are today. That's why we LOVE our Tribe. They finished with the EXACT record you did. Your talent was bought. We had 6 rookies on our post-season roster, and we're dang proud of every one of them. Same goes for the Rockies - they went from LAST place to the World Series in one year. Even if they lose, hats off to them. That's something to be proud of.
And I had to laugh at lilweez's comment about the "shiitty" Jake. Ironically, I talked to two Boston Fans during game 4, and the one guy called his wife back in Boston to tell her what a beautiful park we had! So, if you got beer dumped on you, it's probably because your were running your mouth and deserved it. Your blog proves it. The last time my husband and I went to Boston to watch our Tribe play, we were so crammed in our seats, we couldn't even get up to get a beer, and they certainly didn't come around to us. That was nice on a 95 degree day. I'll take my Jake any day.
So once again, THANK YOU TRIBE for a great season. I could not imagine being a fan of any other team. I'm so proud of how far this team has come...the right, RESPECTABLE way.

This is to the so called Indians fans... Not the team... (Team.. Great series, Class guys...) Fans...Did Ohio really go for Bush in 04? Anyway. Don't be a bunch of babies. The Redsox paid their dues and it is our time now! Question: Why do we spend money for good players? Answer: Because we can! This is the great baseball city in the world! You fans follow the indians ONLY when they are good (except the drum man). We pay high prices and follow the Sox when they are good AND when they are bad. All to compete with the Yankees (talk about spending money)! We don't cry about other teams spending money. We focus on geting to the playoffs and winning. Is it our fault Cleveland was too cheap to pay Manny? Your lost.. our gain...
One more than about the Indians/ Sox series....
GAME OVER!

and lets not forget that a ticket at fenway is one of the heardest tickets to get. and the indians ranked 25 out of 30 for their attendance this year...man thats support, huh? but hey, at least you live in the armpit of america and can support the cavs. oh hold on, thats right...even lebron doest like the indians. well maybe the blue jackets will win the cup? hhmmm...just keep hoping for something to make you guys happy

Hey lilweezchick203 your as dumb as that old past its time little leauge fenway park is.I would'nt go see a game there if someone paided me to.Why, because i don't like to watch a team, actually i can't even call the red sox a team, they'er just a big product of other organizations pieces put together after you guys bought them.your red sox make MLB look real bad,I'm mean its wrong for one (two, N.Y) organization to be able to buy most of its talent rather than do it the real baseball way and develope its talent like the ROCKIES or indians or diamondbacks.YOUr TEAM (HA) should be called the Boston joke soxs.BOSTON,yeah we buy talent and were proud of that, your a joke just like your organiztion is and you know it.HA HA

Hey weez...you just proved my point (about classiness). Thanks! LOVE the money comments to. That's the only way you guys seem to be able to win, Right? Gotta buy the talent, can't raise it. I wasn't bashing you...just stating the facts. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey lilweezchick203, it's just a freaking game! I think you are taking it a bit too seriously, maybe you need to go out and get a life. At first I felt really bad for you, I am really sorry you were treated badly at our beautiful Jake. I go often and would never throw beer on anyone, nor have I ever seen our fans bullying anyone, I wouldn't tolerate it if I did, and I truly apologize if it did really happen to you. However, seeing how you are pretty nasty yourself and can't really control your emotions, maybe you antagonized Cleveland fans to the point of doing that? Either way, you should have let security know rather than harbor an unhealty grudge and stalk Ryan Garko's blog trying to get back at us Indians fans. It's pretty sad that your team is in the World Series, yet you spend
your time HERE insulting us? Are you that bored?
I thought at first you were an adult, but that idiotic comment above about the poster probably being ugly really puts you in the 12 year old category...sorry. Maybe when Mommy lets you use the computer again you can learn some manners.
We love the Indians and we love Cleveland, no amount of hate spewed here is ever going to change that!! Hate to disappoint you, but that's a fact. If you hate the Jake so much, here's a great tip even you can understand: DON'T COME BACK! We have plenty of nice people to take your seat! Learn some good sportsmanship too. Even New York showed us some class when we beat them, is that ever going to be the case with Boston?

Thanks, Miniluv. VERY WELL PUT. I'm not here to bash. There is too much hate and violence in the world...I don't think Ryan nor the Indians want it on his site. I was merely defending my team, my fellow fans, and my city. Life to too short to bicker over baseball.

Okay, to lilweezchick, you really need to get a freaking life. Your team already beat us almost a week ago, its over. I can't believe that your team is in the World Series right now and you are still coming on Garko's blog to bash us. First of all this was a great series and was played well by both teams. But for you to honestly say that the Indians are a joke, we have a younger, less experienced and yes, a lot lower payroll and we were still both tied with the best record in the AL. And I'm not sorry if people dumped beer on you, you sound like a real *** and probably deserved it!
And to the other idiot who said we were to cheap to pay Manny, wow I didn't realize that living off of the couple million he probably had was so difficult, that poor guy, he was practically destitude. Saying that just shows what a bunch of money hungry pigs you have on your team. I wish we had a team that didn't really care about the game of baseball, or the team or the fans and only cared about money, you guys are just so lucky!
And talk about whiney babies, if I had to hear one more time about Gark's champagne comment, I don't understand how using a metaphor simply saying a win is a win no matter where it happens is considered trash talking. You've obviously never played in any competitive sports before. But of course your team of panzies had to post that up all over their locker room as motivation.
By the way, I haven't been on this blog since the end of the ALSC and was really surprised to see some Boston fans still coming on here bashing the Indians. Although I have pretty much stooped to your level in this post, I will say that had the Indians won I would NEVER go on Kevin Youkilis's blog and bash him or his team, I would be too excited about being in the WS to care what was going on with Boston!
So go be a real fan and eat some facking clam chowder and cheer for your wicked ahhsome baseball team you freaking losers!
So sorry everyone for the animosity but I can't stand people who can't just be happy with a win and still have to rub everyone's face in it well after the fact!

Calling Kenny Lofton "a nice piece of nostalgia" is an insult to the fan base. Yes, Kenny energizes the fans, and energized fans buy tickets. The day Kenny is signed for next year is the day I will put down my season ticket deposit.
Forget all those other injury-prone left-field candidates. Can any of them win golden gloves or steal twenty-three bases in a season? "Kenny, Kenny" Lofton is still more golden than any of those guys will ever be. I hope the fans speak up and are heard on this one.

P.S. joker knows what he is talkin about. what is wrong with waving rally towels? i have no idea what is wrong with that. in my opinion that is just fantastic and would have done it if i could of gone 2 the games, but i live in the worst sports state ever Florida. oh and by the way secretwoman it really payed off spending money on high priced players like Gary sheffield right. you guys went really far in the playoffs. oh wait you didnt even make it to the playoffs.

Call Me - Never said he doesn't deserve it, just said he was overrated and won't do as well next year. Same with Fausto. He'll have the sophmore blues for sure.
Turner - Year to year we go. And where did the Indians finish in 2006? And how far did the Indians go in the playoffs in 2007 compared to the 2006 Tigers? Oh ok.
As you might say, that was last year, blah blah...
As far as Sheff - he along with a number of Tigers pitchers were hurt in 2007.
We had by far more injuries than the Indians did.
As I like to say, the Indians of 2007 were the Tigers of 2006 - well, minus the World Series berth.
Also, I have always enjoyed the fair-weather fans of Cleveland. Even when the team is winning you still don't show your support and show up during the course of a season. This is well shown by attendance between Detroit and Cleveland in 2007, as shown below.
Cleveland - Ranked 21st with 2,275.911 fans.
Detroit - Ranked 9th with 3,047.124.
You Cleveland fans are the same with all your sports teams.
As far as 2008, I see Cleveland and Dolan have decided to go cheap and not spend money. They will be lucky to get CC back in 2009. I also enjoyed the contract with Hafner before 2007 - what a flop that was! ha ha...
As far as 2008, here is the Tigers line up.
1. Granderson (300 hitter in 07')
2. Polanco (300 hitter in 07')
3. Sheffield (will be 300 in 08)
4. Ordonez (you cleveland players couldn't carry his jock strap - .363 hitter in 07')
5. Guillen (300 hitter in 07')
6. Renteria (300 hitter in 07')
7. Jacque Jones (280-ish hitter)
8. Rodriquez (will hit 300 in 08')
9. Inge (awesome 3rd baseman, will hit around 250 in 08')
You sure your ONE .300 hitter in 2007 and lineup in 2008 will be able to keep up with the runs that the Tigers will score?
The Tribe has 2 or 3 'name players' and that is about it. A bunch of young guys that blew it when it meant the most, just like every other Cleveland team (who about those 06-07 Cavs...ha ha). Even your poster boy Lebron doesn't even like the Tribe.....
Detroit will finish 1st in the Central in 2008. Check the blogs and reports, the Tigers are already picked as favorites even after you all won the division in 2007. You'll finish a close but distant 2nd place in 2008.
Detroit hasn't even sured up its pitching (starters - 2 of them anyway) for 2008 and we are already ahead of you guys.
Good Luck with that! Oh, and as the 2008 season comes close, I will be back with more good news about your wonderful - flops - of the team you love - when they are winning anyway.

secretman.... you are a lost soul. Here's some direction: go find another blog. We don't buy your **** so go commiserate with people who will. besides, you'll get fat sitting in front of a computer typing out long essays like that last one (& since you seemed so concerned about CC's weight, you better look out for yourself)
Just because we all can't afford to buy tickets to actually go to games doesn't mean we aren't watching, listening, reading, cheering... GO TRIBE!!!!!!!

secret. man
1. Your 300 hitters really helped the tigers after the all star break. Didn't the tigers finish the second half of the season with the worst record in the AL?
2. Your ace Verlander lost five times to the Indians.
3. Hafner and Sizemore had an off year offensively, so look out in 08.
4. Michigan sports teams can't beat Ohio. 2006. #1Ohio State beats #2 Michigan 2007- Ohio State Basketball plays in title game. 2007- Cavs beat the pistons to win the East. 2007-
Indians beat tigers ace verlander 5 times to finish 1st in division.
2007- Michigan loses to Appalachian state.

Just came back from Disney and every tenth person had a Boston jersey on. Had to sit with one on a ride and all he did was talk about how we lost the series. I proudly wore my Indians Ryan Garko shirt, and told him we are very proud of our guys!!!

Hi Ryan, Im a red sox fan, but I like to read other teams blogs. I just want to say your team played a **** of a series, and I was nervous, till the last out was made. You guys lost by one game, it does not get much closer than that. And for the Red Sox, and Clevland fans bashing each other, lets cut the ****. IT was a great series, between to great organizations. Good luck to the Indians, and there fans in the future.

To all you Indians fans, how does it feel to already have the division slipping away from you.
Tigers just trade for Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis.
You realize that 7 out of 9 of the lineup hit over .300 last year. The other two, Sheff and I-Rod are career .300 hitters and will be back in form next season.
The Tigers could potentially have 9 players hitting .300.
Ouch!
That hurts...your GM needs to get off his butt and get to work because your chances are slipping already!

Correct that 6 out of 9.....still ain't bad.
